The “Blinding Light” Problem
Here is the tricky part about bathroom heating: the light. If you’ve ever used a standard infrared lamp, you know they can be blinding. That’s a real problem when you’re trying to dry off or, more importantly, when you’re bathing a baby. No one wants a spotlight in their eyes. To fix this, we tweaked the spectrum. We use a specific kind of quartz glass and filtered filaments to kill that harsh glare. You still get all the cozy heat you need to warm up your skin, but without the “staring into the sun” feeling.
How We Actually Build It
Making a heater waterproof isn’t as simple as throwing it in a plastic box. We use high-temperature silicone gaskets to seal the electrical joints and run the wiring through moisture-proof conduits. This stops water from “creeping” its way into the terminal block. Then, we pair aluminum heat sinks with tempered glass. It’s a simple setup that does two things: it keeps the internal electronics from frying and keeps the steam away from the actual heating element.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
These units heat up fast. Like, really fast. But that speed comes with a catch. High-intensity infrared pulls a lot of power. If you’re planning to install a few of these on one circuit, definitely double-check your breaker capacity. They tend to pull a heavy surge of current the moment you flip the switch. We designed these for those moments when you need warmth right now and can’t wait for the house HVAC to slowly wake up. And while the eye-protection coating makes the heat slightly less “raw” than an industrial lamp, it’s a trade-off we’re happy to make. Safety in a family bathroom beats raw power every single time.
