
Stop Wasting Power in Your Wafer Fab

When you’re heating wafers, you don’t just need “lots of heat.” You need that energy to actually hit the surface. The problem? Most standard quartz lamps are messy. They bleed energy in every direction, meaning a lot of that expensive power never even reaches the target. That’s why we use gold-coated reflectors. We’re essentially plugging the leaks. The magic of gold Think about a standard infrared emitter. It pushes energy out in a full 360-degree circle. In a clean room, half of that heat usually just hits the housing or vanishes into the air. We fix this by adding a thin layer of gold to the reflector. Gold is incredible at bouncing infrared radiation back. Instead of letting those photons wander off, the gold pushes them right back toward the wafer. Every watt you pull from the grid actually goes to work. A quick heads-up on cooling Now, you can’t just slide a gold-coated lamp into an old rig and call it a day. You’ve got to check your cooling first. Because the gold concentrates the heat so well, the intensity at the focal point jumps. If your cooling loops aren’t ready for that, you might end up stressing your lamp seals or overheating the edges of the wafer. Just double-check your airflow and heat sinks before you flip the switch. What this actually does for you This isn’t about some abstract “improvement.” It’s about making your process window tighter. You’ll notice faster ramp-up times and heat that’s spread evenly across the wafer. No more annoying cold spots that lead to defects. Plus, it gives you some breathing room. You can either dial back the total power draw to hit your target temperature, or push for higher peaks without having to rip out and upgrade your primary power feed. It just makes life easier.
