When we build these things for wet rooms, we aren’t just slapping a waterproof cover on a bulb. We’re actually using light to change how your bathroom handles water. Stopping the damp at the source Here is the secret: we use shortwave infrared. Most heaters just warm up the air, which is fine, but it doesn’t really help with those soggy tiles or the damp grout in the corners. Infrared is different. It goes straight for the water molecules sitting on your surfaces. It basically shakes the moisture loose and forces it to evaporate fast. Since mold needs a damp place to hang onto, taking away that moisture means the spores have nowhere to land. No dampness, no mold. Simple as that. The nitty-gritty on the build You’ll see “IP44” on the spec sheet. In plain English? It means the unit is sealed tight. It keeps out dust and handles splashes from any angle so you don’t have to worry about steam sneaking into the wiring and causing a short circuit. One thing to watch out for, though: make sure your ceiling mounts can actually handle the wattage. These lamps put out a lot of concentrated heat. If the housing is too small or the wrong material, you might end up scorching your ceiling fixtures. Not a great look. It’s about drying, not just heating The goal isn’t to turn your bathroom into a sauna or hit a specific temperature like 30°C. It’s more about the “drying effect.” The lamp creates a big temperature difference between your wet walls and the air around them. That difference is what pushes the moisture out of the room. Just a heads-up on the electrics: you’ll notice a quick spike in power the second you flip the switch. It’s just the lamp hitting its operating temperature. Just make sure your circuit breakers are beefy enough to handle that initial rush, otherwise, you’ll be tripping the power every time you want a warm bathroom.
